The Sea of Ice, which is Mer de Glace in French, is a glacier on the northern slopes of the Mont Blanc Massif, a mountain range in the Alps. The Sea of Ice is 7 kilometres long and 200 metres deep, making it the longest glacier in France. The glacier moves at a speed of 90 meters per year, which is about one centimeter per hour. Three smaller glaciers combine together to create the Sea of Ice with its deep crevasses and ice needles. The beauty of the glacier is renown, making it a major tourist attraction.
